In the field hockey, on Thursday November 15th 2012, New Zealand is taking on India in a Sultan of Johor Cup Hockey tournament in Johor Baru, Malaysia. India had a very good start to the tournament by winning two consecutive matches against hockey joints Australia and Germany very comprehensively by 2-0 and 3-1 while they were apprehended to a goalless draw by arch-rivals Pakistan in their third round-robin league match yesterday. With this, India is on the top of the table after three league matches with 7 points.
Today, India will play with New Zealand before squaring off in opposition to hosts Malaysia in their last league match on Saturday.
New Zealand also had a fair start to the tournament and leveled their opening match against Pakistan by 3-3 while had a good win against home team Malaysia 5-2. However, they lost against Germany very badly by only managed to score a single goal while Germany scored 5 goals to clutch that game to their side.
After playing today’s match against India they are left to be played against Australians to complete their last league match on Saturday. Currently, New Zealand had a third position on the table with 4 points.
Today win is important for both the teams as this win will give the clear top position to India while if New Zealand holds the win then they equal the Indian points. According to current performance and historical figures, India is having an upper hand over New Zealand to go with the unbeaten streak in this tournament.
