Melissa Lewis, 24, charged with second degree murder of Ludlow Gillespie – update

On Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 2:33 p.m., police responded to a call for unknown trouble near 120 Windermere Drive.

It is alleged that:

– the victim was driving a vehicle northbound on Windermere Avenue, from Lakeshore Boulevard,

– also in the vehicle was the accused, the accused’s father and a six-year-old girl,

– while the vehicle was in motion, an argument occurred between the accused and the victim,

– during that argument the accused stabbed the victim,

– the vehicle came to a stop,

– the victim collapsed to the road.

The accused’s father pick up the six-year-old girl and left the scene prior to police arriving. The girl was located shortly after.

The victim was pronounced at the hospital.

Arrested at the scene was Melissa Lewis, 24, no fixed address. She was charged with Second Degree Murder.

She was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Sunday, May 30, 2010.

The victim as been identified as Ludlow Gillespie, 25, of no fixed address.

UPDATE: 

On Monday, May 31, 2010, police had been searching for a witness, David Winn.

On Tuesday, June 1, 2010, police spoke with David Winn regarding the investigation into the murder of Ludlow Gillespie.
