The RCMP has publicly released the names of six teenagers who passed away during a car crash with a tanker truck at a rural Saskatchewan intersection early on Saturday morning. It was elucidated that three males and three females were present in the car that crashed about six kilometres southeast of Lloydminster, i.e. a city on the Saskatchewan/Alberta border. Authorities have identified the following victims: 14-year-old Aimie Hurley, 14-year-old Mackenzie Moen and 13-year-old Naomi Salas-Schafer from Lloydminster, 17-year-old Kristopher Tavener and 16-year-old Jayden Boettcher from Marshall, Sask., and 15-year-old from Lashburn, Sask.

Police explained that five of the victims died at the scene, while the sixth gave up later in a hospital. Meanwhile, the truck driver was found to have suffered from several injuries but was listed in stable condition. The RCMP has not speculated any specific cause of the accident, though they have confirmed that no alcohol was found in the car.

Tavener’s parents described their son a “protective big brother and a loving son,” a “true and faithful friend.” The said that “a part of our world has been taken, we will never ever forget you and love you always.” Meanwhile Boettcher’s mother remembered him as an avid fitness addict who loved snowboarding and playing basketball. Lloydminster Mayor, Jeff Mulligan, mentioned in a statement on Saturday that it is a dark day for the community, alleging that “it’s a tough day but it’s one of those things,” and added that “we all should today reach out and hug our kids and grandkids.”
