On Day 3 of Australian Open 2014, Defending men’s champion Novak Djokovic made his way with an easy victory in a fiercely hot day on Wednesday to win in straight sets over Leonardo Mayer with 6-0, 6-4, 6-4.
In another match, third-seeded David Ferrer paved his way into the third round after defeating French player Adrian Mannarino in four sets with 7-6, 5-7, 6-0, 6-3.
Eighth seed Stanislas Wawrinka also won over Alejandro Falla also in four sets with 6-3, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.
Serena Williams cruised to victory as the women’s top seed over Vesna Dolonc in 63 minutes with 6-1, 6-2.
In the women’s draw Li Na, seeded fourth, embraced victory against Belinda Benci with 6-0, 7-6.
Meanwhile, Sabine Lisicki—two times runner-up at Wimbledon, most recently in 2013—crashed out against Monica Niculescu with 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
