The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a historic Sexual Assault investigation.

On Sunday, June 28, 1998, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a woman, 33, working in the sex trade, was in the Queen Street West and Beaconsfield Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

– she was approached by a man

– he took her to the rear of a building

– he sexually assaulted and robbed her

– he fled the area on a mountain bike

– the woman and her friends gave chase but lost him

Police were called and an investigation ensued but, despite the best efforts of the Sexual Assault Squad, the attacker was not identified.

In August 2014, subsequent to a cold case investigation, the alleged perpetrator was identified and surrendered to police.

Stacy Gordon Armstrong, 56, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) Sexual Assault
2) Robbery
3) Fail to Comply Probation

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Friday, September 19, 2014, courtroom 101, 10 a.m.
