Police search for suspects in a Windsor home invasion

Windsor Police continue to investigate after five suspects entered a west end residence with weapons early this morning. At 12:40 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, uniformed WPS officers responded to a report of a robbery that had just occurred in the 700 block of Rankin Ave. Officers were met by six men ranging in age from 20-22 years of age. The victims advised that they had been inside the house in various rooms watching television when they observed five suspects all wearing black balaclava masks enter the home through the front door. The suspects ordered four of the victims who were upstairs to the ground and began demanding to know where any "valuables" were. The suspects were carrying weapons ranging from a knife, a pipe, a hatchet and a possible hand gun. The suspects also confronted two other victims in the basement of the house and assaulted them while demanding their "valuables".

The suspects assaulted all six of the victims using the weapons with the victims receiving various injuries including minor lacerations and bruising. None of the victims were seriously injured. Four of the six victims were transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital where they were treated and released.

The suspects removed a number of electronic items including cell phones and laptop computers from the residence prior to fleeing on foot. Responding officers located a number of these items in an alley across the street from the victims’ residence which had been dropped by the assailants while fleeing the area.

A WPS K9 unit performed a track of the suspects to the area of California Ave at Girardot St. however, the track was lost at this location.

The suspects are described as follows: All were wearing black clothing and gloves.

Suspect #1 – Male, black, 6’0", dreadlocks, slim build, carrying a hunting knife.
Suspect #2 – Male, black, 5’8", slim build, carrying a piece of metal pipe.
Suspect #3 – Male, Asian, 5’7", carrying a silver hand gun.
Suspect #4 – Male, white, blue eyes, carrying a hatchet.
Suspect #5 – Male, Hispanic.
