On Sunday August 7th at approximately 11am Pictou County District RCMP members responded to an overturned boat in the Northumberland Strait approximately 1km from Seafoam Shore, Pictou County,NS. Two individuals in kayaks reported they attended the location and noted an individual wearing a life vest, face down in the water and still with the small boat. The two witnesses paddled back to shore to notify the Police.
A 55 year old man from Seafoam, Nova Scotia was pronounced dead near the scene
The RCMP Pictou County District partnered with Rescue Coordination Center (RCC), Coast Guard, Emergency Health Services (EHS) and the River John Fire Department during this event in fulfilling the recovery of the Deceased.
The investigation is ongoing by Pictou County District RCMP with the assistance of the Medical Examiners Office. The name of the deceased is being withheld until full notification of next of kin.
