As the hearing of the contempt of court case against the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani resumed on Thursday, SC seriously criticized the response of the PM and his “temporary” violation of court order.
PM Gillani had made a statement in the media saying that it is impossible for him to write to the Swiss authorities demanding a record of the President’s records in their country as far as he is serving as the President of Pakistan. He also made fun of the SC in one of his addresses and clearly stated that he will not abide by the order of the SC even if that leads to him resigning as the Prime Minister. He had said that his sincerity is with his party, PPP, and there is no way he is doing anything that will damage the name of his party.
Taking notice of all the remarks made by the PM for the time the case was adjourned, SC used harsh words against the comments the PM is making in the public and also warned the lawyer of the PM Aitzaz Ahsen to stop talking about the case in public gatherings.
Ahsen, on the other hand, used the hearing to clarify to the court that he holds nothing against the judges of the case, except that according to law, the panel of judges which take show-cause notice of an incident cannot sit through the proceedings of the same case.
