This timeless operetta that follows the romantic lives of several couples and features an outstanding waltz score by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler. Based on the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, the musical features Sondheim’s most well-known song, “Send in the Clowns.” A Little Night Music explores the complexities of love and heartache as the summer night “smiles on the young, the fools and the old.” During its debut run on Broadway, the musical won multiple Drama Desk Awards, Theatre World Awards and Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.
