Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav of Samajwadi Party will file nomination today to try her luck again at the hustings, from Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency. In November 2009, she lost the Firozabad by-elections to Raj Babbar who was a former actor which led to Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh parting ways.

But this time Dimple has more expectations to do much better than her misfortune of 2009. The two key reasons for her confidence include the position of her husband as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and secondly the Congress has now declared not to field any candidate against her in the upcoming by-elections for Kannauj.

On Tuesday, Dimple will address a political rally at Kannauj and she might be accompanied by her husband CM Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Mulayam Singh and SP General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav.

The day for counting the votes have also been selected which is June 27 according to the Election Commission (EC). The deadline for filing the nominations is June 6 and the deadline for withdrawal of nominations has been issued on June 9. The notification for the by-poll would be fixed on My 30.

The Kannauj by-poll was imposed by Akhilesh Yadav’s election to the State Legislative Council and Dimple was fielded following meetings and consultations, said party officials.

Kannauj is considered to be a safer seat for Dimple because it has been thrice represented by her husband and also because the party fared extremely well in the state Assembly elections in March.
