For La Llorona: The Rebel Spirit of Chavela Vargas at Walt Disney Concert Hall, vocalists Ely Guerra, Eugenia León and Tania Libertad will perform one-of-a-kind acoustic sets in tribute to the late legendary musical rebel Chavela Vargas. An internationally renowned singer of Mexican rancheras and corridos, Vargas was a muse to Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar and has had her music covered by groups as diverse as Pink Martini and the Chieftains. A true innovator, she began performing professionally in the 1930s, released more than 80 albums, made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2003 at the age of 83, and passed away in August 2012.
