The much beloved Los Angeles band known as Ozomatli has been combining hip-hop, salsa, dancehall, samba, funk, R&B, raga and more into an irresistible urban-Latin groove for close to 20 years — and they’ve got a pair of Grammys and a multitude of loyal fans to show for it. These socially-conscious musical groundbreakers formed the group after a labor protest, and have since traveled the world as U.S. State Department Cultural Ambassadors, headlined the Hollywood Bowl and the Kennedy Center, performed with major symphonies and gave the first ever musical talk at a TED conference, where they mixed discussion and sound to explore musical identities in a global age. For this Canyon concert, their opening act is Steel Toed Slippers.
