The Banshee (Burbank, CA)

Theatre Banshee presents The Importance of Being Earnest. This delightfully witty, clever and lighthearted romp through Victorian society is one of the best-known comedic plays of all time. The play follows two young bachelors pretending to be earnest — and Ernest — as they try to win their ladies’ hearts. When Algernon finds out his friend “Ernest” is really named Jack and leading a double life, he decides to get in on the action too. Pretty soon, “Ernest” is everywhere and Jack and Algernon’s plans go hilariously awry. Oscar Wilde’s one-liners and double entendres are as laugh-out-loud funny today as they were when the play was originally written.
