The suspect accused of chaining a teenager and sexually assaulting him at a home in rural Nova Scotia, David James Leblanc, has decided to plead guilty to majority of the charges laid against him. Leblanc recently appeared in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Bridgewater on Thursday morning to enter guilty pleas of eight out of total sixteen charges laid against him in two separate cases.
Leblanc was initially charged with total seven offences related to a teen confinement incident that took place at a home in Upper Chelsea, including sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, uttering a death threat, kidnapping, administering a noxious substance with intent to cause bodily harm, and breach of conditions. Whereas, today he entered guilty plea to five of these charges, which included sexual assault, forcible confinement, uttering a death threat, kidnapping and breach of conditions, while the remaining two charges were withdrawn.
On the other hand, in a different case of alleged child pornography that entailed him of taking photos of two young boys and posted them online, Leblanc also entered three guilty pleas. The charges included having made child pornography, distributing child pornography and sexual interference, while two other charges were withdrawn. Leblanc’s lawyer, Mike Taylor, informed reporters that his client has decided to plead guilty since he wants to “accept his responsibility and move on.” Taylor explained that “he’s certainly got a lot of evidence against him; he knows that he’s committed these offences,” adding that “he doesn’t want to put anyone else through any more formalities than he’s already done.”
