The 4th Annual Awareness Film Festival comes to Santa Monica with films, art and music that highlight some of the world’s pressing issues in the areas of ecology, politics, health and spirituality. The documentary film Authority and Expectations follows young Iraq War veteran Wray Harris as he recounts the rocky road that led to his enrollment in the Army and the irrevocable effect combat had on him. With footage of the 20-year-old in tears on base, of gunfights and body scoops, of a Humvee on an assault mission, of a mosque under attack, the depth of his depictions leaves your senses like the streets of Baghdad: forever changed.
