Almost a decade after being crowned Miss India Earth 2005, she would finally see a release of hers on the big screen. Not many are aware though of the fact that her flirtation with camera started long time back when she worked on a couple of major films which didn't see the light of the day.

No wonder, when director Ashim Ahluwalia approached her with Miss Lovely, she was more than happy to pick it up.

"It is rather surprising that before Ashim no one ever touched this subject", she says, "In fact I feel it was bold on his part to actually go and make a film like this. When he could have just picked up a usual boy meets girl film and moved his camera around the trees, he chose this dark subject for his first feature film."

Set in the lower depths of Bombay's 'C' grade film industry, Miss Lovely follows the story of two brothers (one of them being now-famous Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who produce sex horror movies in the mid-80s. Since the backdrop of Miss Lovely is that of soft porn industry, one does wonder about the kind of narrative that Ahluwalia has adopted for the film.

Nevertheless, the film's promo has indeed caught eye and it seems like yet another surprise of the season.

"More than surprise I think this film would come as shock for many out there", says Niharika who has been waiting rather patiently for the release of Miss Lovely which has been traveling film festivals over the years, "A film like this has not been made in India. It is not a run of the mill affair by any means. My director Ashim is more of a documentary filmmaker who has attempted a feature film for a subject which is unconventional."

She adds, "For the first time ever there is a film depicting the C grade industry. No filmmaker has ever touched a subject like this before. Moreover the narrative, execution as well cast is very unusual. It should be definitely liked by people looking for different cinema."

Guess one would be able to appreciate the effort better once the film finds a theatrical release for itself.
