A recent Angus Reid Global poll has found Ontario Premier, Kathleen Wynne, to have had increased her job performance rating only three months after winning a majority government. According to the survey, Wynne’s performance approval rating heightened from 41% to 33% in June, although the poll found that several other premiers across the country had lost their approval ratings among voters.
Premier Wynne had brought the Ontario Legislature back in June and attempted to pass the provincial budget that triggered the spring election. Regardless of an impressive 8% increase in Wynne’s approval rating, 46% of those polled still disapproved of the job she’s doing as premier while 13% were “unsure.” Whereas on the other hand, Angus Reid Global found Saskatchewan, Premier Brad, to have held the place of the most popular provincial leader in Canada with an approval rating of 66%. While New Brunswick Premier, David Alward, retained the position of the least popular provincial since only 27% gave his performance the thumbs up compared to 61% disapproving.
In addition to that, the provincial leaders who lost their approval ratings included Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard, i.e. 50% approval down from 59%, and B.C. Premier Christy Clark, i.e. 32% down from 37%. In its remarks, Angus Reid Global stated that “in Alberta, where Jim Prentice has won the Progressive Conservative membership vote that will make him the next provincial leader, outgoing premier Dave Hancock’s job performance rating stood at 29 per cent down ten points from June (39%).”
