House of Blues on the Sunset Strip (West Hollywood, CA)
Like the Ramones, the Smiths, Public Enemy and Nirvana, Irish punk band Stiff Little Fingers was discovered by the legendary BBC disc jockey John Peel. Part of the second, rawer wave of Brit punk bands, SLF did not have to fake the feelings of alienation and dystopian outlook relished by the genre’s mohawk-sporting fans. Founded in Northern Ireland at the height of The Troubles, violence and terror were never abstractions for the Belfast-based group. This real-life grounding gave their music an urgency and a brashness no other act could emulate — and inspired great albums, including the immortal Inflammable Material. Now, just after their latest album No Going Back hit No. 1 on the BBC Rock Album charts, this legendary act plays a legendary venue: House of Blues on the Sunset Strip.
