Police arrest Surrey man for sexually assaulting minors

Surrey RCMP wish to advise the public about charges laid against 46 year old Surrey resident James CARDNO and to identify victims who are currently unknown by investigators.

46 year old Surrey resident, James CARDNO, was arrested and charged in March, in regards to 8 sex related offences on 4 persons under the age of 16. Since that arrest, several additional victims have come to the attention of the Surrey RCMP Child Abuse and Sexual Offender Unit. As a result, CARDNO has been charged with an additional 5 counts of sex related offences on 2 persons under the age of 16. The counts include two counts of Sexual Interference, and two counts of Sexual Exploitation, as well as one count of Invitation to Sexual Touching. CARDNO has also been charged with Making and Possessing Child Pornography. Police have images of several other young persons who have had contact with James CARDNO, some of whom have yet to be identified.

CARDNO, has been released from custody on conditions including no contact with his victims and any other young persons. He is currently residing in the Fraser Heights area of Surrey.

His offences are believed to have taken place in both the Fraser Heights area and the area of King George Boulevard and 96 Avenue dating from approximately 1995 to 2009. He is scheduled for a further Court appearance on June 9, 2011. The RCMP seeks the public’s assistance for information about CARDNO that may further the on-going police investigation.
