Perth Andover RCMP are investigating a fatal collision which involved two pedestrians and a small passenger bus on Route 190 in Carlingford, New Brunswick.
On January 1st, 2012 at approximately 7:20 p.m., the driver of the small bus was heading towards Perth-Andover on Route 190 when he struck a 50 year-old man who was walking with his 79-year-old mother. It is believed the pair were struck from behind as they were walking on the roadway with the flow of traffic.
The 79-year old woman died as a result of her injuries and the 50-year-old man suffered life threatening injuries. He was later transferred to Saint John Regional Hospital where he remains in critical condition. Both victims are from the Montreal area. Their names will not be released prior to the notification of next of kin.
An RCMP collision re-constructionist attended the scene and is investigating the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
Update: Perth-Andover RCMP has released the name of the pedestiran who was killed on January 1st, 2012 in Carlinford, New Brunswick. She has been identified as 79-year-old Irina Konioukhova of Montreal, Québec.
