The rural area of Wagga Wagga in North South Wales has turned into a ghost town after the emergency clearance warning issued for the town in respect to the rising water levels of River Murrumbidgee which can burst the banks anytime now.
The warning was issued on Tuesday morning with teams making efforts to take out every single living being from the town. The declaration was made by the premier of North South Wales, Barry O’ Farrell, as he visited the town this morning urging all residents to take only necessary belongings and leave behind the rest to save their lives.
He further said the warning has been given by the officials of Natural Disaster Council who are concerned for the lives in the town and steps must be taken to avoid any casualties. According to the statistics reports issued until now, about 9,000 individuals have been made to evacuate the area of Wagga Wagga already whereas the last of the few are going to be evacuated by today.
The town is going to face massive destruction if the river banks burst.
The SES spokesperson informed that the river is expected to peak at 10.9m by 6pm today due to the continuous major rainfall. The river is currently standing at 10.5m and will reach 10.65m by Thursday and if that happens, the town will be cut into three creating severe damage.
