A recent poll by Marquette University Law School suggests that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has taken a timely lead over his Democratic opponent.

According to the poll, President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney have reached a tie at 46% to 46% fondness among the expected voters in Wisconsin. However, the poll conducted in April showed that Obama led Romney by 49%-45%.

The basic explanation behind the shift could be that Republicans are more activate for the June 5 recall election than any other party. Charles Franklin, director of the poll, says Walker’s supporters seem to hold an advantage in possible turnout.

Another poll conducted by Public Policy Polling for the liberal website Daily Kos supports the findings of Marquette University Law School’s poll. It shows Walker has a 49% to 45% lead over Barrett and Obama with a one-point lead, 47% to 46% over Romney.

The Marquette poll was conducted on telephone calls to both cell phones and landline while the PPP poll relies on calls made only to landlines. The sample contains 704 registered Wisconsin voters. It has a 3.8% margin of error.

The poll also indicates that Walker could create more employment opportunities than Barrett. Moreover, it seems like 37% of the respondents say they believe Wisconsin lost jobs over the past year, while 20% believe there have been job gains.

“The governor set himself up,” said Andy Feldman, director of BadgerStat, a nonpartisan statistical website that measures Wisconsin’s governmental performance. “The 250,000 jobs promise was a ploy, and he’s set himself up by creating the focus on a goal over which he has very little control.”
