American Cinematheque presents a double-feature screening of two films featuring legendary film star Martin Landau. First is Crimes and Misdemeanors, Woody Allen’s critically acclaimed drama which stars Landau as Judah Rosenthal, a successful ophthalmologist who faces a major life crisis when his longtime mistress threatens to go to his wife with the truth about their relationship. Next is Ed Wood, a stylistic 1994 biopic of the director who helmed “the worst movie ever made” (Plan 9 From Outer Space). Landau received a much-deserved Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his brilliant turn as Bela Lugosi, an aging horror star whose career is given one final push by the legendary schlock director Ed Wood (Johnny Depp). Between films, there will be a discussion with Landau moderated by film historian Foster Hirsch.
