Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, this compelling and visually inventive stage adaptation is the recipient of five 2011 Tony Awards, including Best Play. Set in England at the start of World War I, War Horse follows a young boy named Albert on his quest to reunite with his horse after the horse is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. This tale of friendship, loyalty and courage is filled with stirring music and songs, but perhaps its biggest star is the horse itself: a life-sized puppet created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company to charge on stage and propel the war story into action.
