The Moncton Miracles, presented by Rogers, lost to the Saint John Mill Rats with a final score of 122-133 The Miracles now sit with a 15-16 record.
The first quarter started with the Miracles coming out with an early 16-9 lead. The Mill Rats would then awaken and go on a 20-1 run, taking over the game 17-29. The first quarter would end with Saint John holding on to a solid 10-point advantage, 25-35.
Moncton would continue to try and close the gap in the second quarter but Saint John refused to give it up. Steve DeLuca would pour in a convincing 17 points in the first half helping his team along the road. Miracles Devin Sweetney would tie the game up for a brief moment at 47-47 before the Mill Rats would once again take control of the scoreboard and finish the half up at 50-54.
Darrell Wonge would come out with a vengeance in the third quarter after having sat out most of the second due to foul trouble. He would give the Miracles the lead when he would go 2 for 2 from the free throw line at the 9-minute mark, 59-58. Moncton would have another outstanding third quarter outscoring Saint John 42-29 to take a 92-83 lead.
The Miracles would lead for the majority of the fourth quarter until the Mill Rats fug a little deeper and managed to tie the game up and send it into extra time. It was 115-115 at the end of regulation time.
Saint John would completely dominate overtime and outscore Moncton 7-18.
Oliver McNally led the way for the Miracles with 28 points. Devin Sweetney followed with 26 points and Herman Favors with 15 points.
Kenny Jones was the force for the Mill Rats with 25 points. Steve DeLuca and Anthony Anderson were next with 20 points each.
Miracles Isaac Butts and the Mill Rats Sheray Thomas would both get fouled out of the game.
Upcoming Community Events:
On the morning of January 28th the players will be visiting Hillcrest School to talk about their new program with Tech South East. That evening Miracles player Boubacar Coly will be speaking at the Dieppe City Council meeting.
The Miracles play their next game at home on Friday, January 25th against the London Lightning. Tip-off is 7pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
