The exhibition is scheduled to run from Tuesday, the 26th of November, through Sunday, the 1st of December–with an opening reception on Thursday, the 28th of November, from 7:00PM through 10:00PM. All of this is happening at 1214 Queen Street West, home of THE GLADSTONE, internationally recognized for its commitment to the arts. As such, the exhibition will be open to the public, for free, from 12:00PM through 5:00PM each day. According to SCHIRM: Conceptually, FACES OF COLOUR explores the tones, textures, and tapestries of human experience–as embodied by a real-life cavalcade of subjects, ranging across all ages, sexes, histories, ethnicities, and walks of life. In developing this series, I was looking to capture and emphasize the common humanity we all share. SCHIRM is an award-winning fine artist, pattern maker, apparel designer, and fashion illustrator. Inspired by the variability and curvaceousness of the human form–and equipped with a fearlessly vivid palette–she expresses her signature aesthetic through a variety of media, industries, channels, and contexts. The dynamic tension between how her work looks (bright, sensual, kinetic, elemental) and feels (soothing, ethereal, meandering, enigmatic) gives it unusually broad appeal, from churches and galleries to retailers and manufacturers.
