 DRPS officers escaped serious injury when an impaired driver collided with their marked cruiser in Oshawa on Saturday morning.

On Saturday August 28, 2010 at approximately 12:12 a.m. two patrol officers from Central East Division were on routine patrol in the vicinity of Ritson Road North and William Street East in Oshawa, when their cruiser was struck from behind by an impaired driver.

The collision caused extensive damages to the front end of the accused’s vehicle and to the rear and interior of the marked police cruiser. Neither of the two uniform officers seated in their cruiser nor the accused were injured. The accused was arrested at scene without incident.

Both vehicles received extensive damage. The police cruiser received about $15,000 worth of damage and it is anticipated the vehicle will be written-off.

Maria VOLTSINIS, age 26, of Hickorynut Drive in North York is charged with: Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Exceed .08 Mg and Careless Driving. The accused was released on an Undertaking with Conditions.
