This Sunday on the 2nd of February, 6 people lost their lives and thirty three others were injured in the attack on the Peshawar Picture House Cinema. The attack was made using two hand grenades which caused major explosions .The injured were been taken to the Lady Reading Hospital for medical care. According to the witnesses present at the scene, the attack had taken place while the cinema was screening a Pashto movie, Ziddi Pakhtun.

The death toll from two hand grenade attacks has increased to six. The cinema was located near the famous Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Anonymous and unidentified persons hurled two homemade hand grenades from the back seats of the single screen cinema house, where more than 200 people were reportedly watching the movie. One grenade landed in the middle of the cinema house whereas the other landed on the head of a man watching the movie. The FIR of blasts was registered against anonymous people in Razzaq Khan Police Station on the complaint of SHO police Khan Razzaq under Anti-Terrorism Act and section 302 of Pakistan Panel Code.

Police has arrested the cinema owner for investigation who is being interrogated though the report has been filed against unidentified persons. Police said that the investigation of this case will be carried out from different angles. The police gave full hope that those involved in attack will be unveiled soon. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak, has announced that a 5 lackh compensation will be made for the families of those who died as well as a two lackh compensation will be made for the injured.
