The security agencies arrested a suspect this Tuesday from a passenger plane at the Lahore airport early in the morning after receiving information about a passenger being a suspected terrorist. The security agencies later released him and cleared him of any wrongdoing.
According to the Airport Security Force (ASF) officials, the passengers informed the plane crew about presence of a suspect soon after a private company’s flight 769 landed on Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport from Muscat at around 8:15 pm. Upon receiving the information, the ASF officials stopped the plane at Hajj terminal for an emergency operation as security forces surrounded the plane carrying 300 passengers. The suspect was identified as Shah Dildar Khan, a 40 year old, was a regular citizen working in Muscat and had no links with any terrorist organization. He was arrested by the ASF commandos and then taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
He was grilled at the airport and later cleared of any attempt of terrorism as claimed some passengers in the flight. According to details, Khan’s brother had wrongly tipped-off the Lahore airport personnel that he was a terrorist due to a family feud. The ASF also interrogated the passengers onboard the flight and collected information about exactly what happened.
