Ambassador Auditorium (Pasadena, CA)
The Pasadena Symphony’s new music director and conductor David Lockington may hail from Great Britain, but he kicks off the season and his tenure by spotlighting a pair of iconic American composers. Grammy-nominated pianist Terrence Wilson, a noted Gershwin specialist, joins the orchestra for the 1925 jazz, blues and ragtime-influenced Concerto in F, while two of Leonard Bernstein’s most elegant pieces, Symphonic Dances from West Side Story and the overture from Candide, close out the concert. And the show is set to open with with one of Lockington’s own compositions, entitled Ceremonial Fantasy Fanfare.
