Kelowna RCMP are currently investigating a suspicious death that occurred inside a residence on Ethel Street in Kelowna, this morning.

Police were called to the residence responding to a 911 call from a resident after he’d found the victim on the couch.

The investigation so far has revealed that a 21 year old male attended a party last night at a residence in the 1300 block of Ethel Street. There were approximately 20 other people in attendance, all known to each other. During the evening a physical altercation broke out between the victim and his 22 year old friend. After the party, the victim laid down on the couch to sleep where he was found at 10:15 AM this morning by the resident of the home.

Police and the Coroners office have yet to determine the cause of death.

The resident did host the party and was there for the duration.

Kelowna Detachment Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation with assistance from the BC Coroners Office.

The cause of death has yet to be determined.

Alcohol and drugs are factors in the investigation, but police can not confirm that they are contributing factors in the victims death at this time.

Police continue to obtain witness information to further the investigation. An autopsy is expected early next week.
