Annapolis County District RCMP are currently on the scene of a possible drowning at Kejimkujik National Park.

Just after 3 p.m. today RCMP received a call that a male had been swimming in the water at Mills Falls at Kejimkujik National Park and had possibly drowned.

Based on early investigation, it appears that a male in his forties became caught in a strong current and it pulled him under the water. He failed to surface again.

The North Queens Ground Search and Rescue team is currently on the scene along with members of RCMP Bridgetown Detachment, North Queens Fire Department and officials from Park Canada.

The Ground Search and Rescue teams are currently in the water attempting to recover the man. If he is not located before night fall, the RCMP Underwater Recovery team will be out in the early morning to begin a recovery dive.

A further update will be provided in the morning.
