CanadaCanada will witness a historic and proud moment this week as the first ever zero emission mass produced car is set to be sold to dealers this later this week.

Ottawa based Ricardo Borba is the first Canadian driver who got his hands on the 2011 model of Nissan Leafs on Friday.

This revolutionary car i.e. The Nissan Leaf is the first of its kind and runs totally from its battery. It allows the car to do 160KM before a recharge is needed. It is completely different from the Chevrolet Volte that arrived in the market a month ago and has a electric engine that has a gasoline engine backup.

Ricardo Borba who works as a software engineer at IBM said that he can’t bear the fuel industry anymore and that he was thrilled with the introduction of green technology.

He added “Right at the time there was an oil spill in the gulf of Mexico,” Borba said of the discussions he had with his wife. “So we decided maybe there’s another way to do what we need to do that doesn’t go deep into the ocean to get the oil, transport the oil, and refine the oil.”

Approx 10,000 green technology based vehicles have been sold ever since the start of 2010, but only 40 of these cars were sold all of model 2011.
