“All the world’s a stage” in this classic romantic comedy updated for modern day Los Angeles, where government power and financial influence have taken the place of the political intrigues of Elizabethan nobility. The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, under the artistic direction of Ben Donenberg, presents William Shakespeare’s classic comedy, As You Like It. Staged in the beautiful Japanese Garden on the grounds of the VA West Los Angeles Healthcare Center Campus, this production is directed by Royal Shakespeare Company artist Kenn Sabberton. The cast features a star-studded roster of accomplished actors, including Tessa Thompson (Veronica Mars) as the quick-witted Rosalind; Peter Cambor (NCIS: Los Angeles) as her devoted lover Orlando and Michael Dorn (Lt. Worf in the Star Trek franchise) doing double duty playing brothers Duke Frederick and Duke Senior. Escaping to the rural orange groves and mountain getaways of the Angeles Crest, the characters encounter romantic twists and turns on their merry romp toward an eventual happy ending, where true love and happiness win out.
