Andy Taylor back with Duran Duran
Duran Duran made an announcement on Instagram confirming the release of a new album later this year. The group also revealed that former guitarist Andy Taylor will join them on guitar for select tracks, as part of a special new music project featuring extended Duran Duran family and friends, old and new.
Taylor had previously split from the group in 1985 and formed The Power Station with John Taylor, Robert Palmer, and Tony Thompson. He contributed to Duran Duran’s 1986 album Notorious, reunited with the group for 2004’s Astronaut album and for tour dates. In 2018, he was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and was unable to attend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
John Taylor has since discussed the upcoming album, which will feature cover songs that were meaningful to the group when they were young, and expressed excitement at having Andy be part of the project.
