Watch out Toronto…We’ve got a very special special event to help you kick off the first long weekend of the summer. Our love affair with a certain Vancouver native started at the first Trip the Light Fantastic NYE bash in 2012 and we’ve long been looking for an opportunity to bring her back. We’re so excited to announce that ill-esha is set to rock the decks for you at an intimate night of west coast beats and far east eats! This ladyful line-up will see ill-esha share the stage with the sweet sounds of LAL along with one of your favourite dancefloor damagers, the lovely and talented Purrpelle. We’d love for you to join us in this experiment of event magic! Expect to enjoy all the elements for which you’ve come to love cirQlar only this time, with an exclusive, private party feel! We can’t wait to deck the sushi house and pass out the maki while you dance the night away. Tickets to this one will be limited to ONLY 100! This is an opportunity to experience an up-close and personal performance with a top glitch & bass producer. If our hypothesis is correct and this experiment is a success, we’ll do more of them! Friday May 17th Izakaya Sushi Bar 294 College St. W 10pm – 3am * * * * * * * * * * * TICKETS AVAILABLE AT http://cirQlation8.eventbrite.com/ and at Fairies Pyjamas and Shanti Baba starting Friday April 18th. ***************** ill-esha has been a fixture in the world of future bass since the late 90’s, and in that time has made a distinctive mark on electronic music, contributing to its evolution as an MC, vocalist and producer. She is a major player in the west coast bass scene and is championed as one of the preeminent glitch dj’s on the planet. One of her claims to renegade fame came in 2010 when she sampled Daft Punk’s soundtrack for the movie Tron: Legacy. Her free bootleg “Purple Legacy” went to #1 on SoundCloud with almost 15,000 plays in four days before being removed due to a copyright conflict with Disney. We’re stoked to have her back in our fair city once again! LAL’s work thrashes through the bounds of genre with daring vocals, rolling rhythms and a spidery flair for weaving sounds and aspirations for a better world. They have collaborated with a wide range of artists, pulling influences from Hip Hop, Drum & Bass, House, Worldbeat, Techno and Down Tempo. These local luminaries have opened for Tricky and Digable Planets, worked with K-OS and Thunderheist, and released on New Kanada to rave reviews. This is their first time on the cirQlar stage and we’re thrilled to have them. Purrpelle needs no introduction but we love everything about her so we will go on. Though she is known ’round these parts for her dub deftness, she happens to be particularily versatile, rocking glitch, dubstep and reggae with the same level of awesome as she dishes out the bounce in her tech house sets. Violet is a regular at Canadian festivals like Harvest, Om (Reunion Project), Eclipse, and is In Flow Festival’s resident DJ. She is one of the glittering pillars of our music community and it is always such a treat to have her on the bill.
