Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum (Topanga, CA)
The TV show that contributed the phrase, “Goodnight, John-Boy,” to the pop-culture lexicon, The Waltons was a much-beloved ’70s-era family drama about a large, close-knit clan in a small Virginia mountain town, whose oldest member, Grandpa Zeb, was played by Will Geer. Geer and his family went on to create the famed Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga, and they’ll honor the show with an all-day celebration for fans. Begin your day of nostalgia by watching some of your favorite clips and browsing through rare photos, letters and memorabilia from the show. Enjoy live entertainment under the oaks, as you take a guided tour of Geer’s gardens, theater, homestead and even his final resting place. This special day wraps up with a panel discussion, Q&A and autograph sessions with several of the cast members, as well as the presentation of the “Will Geer Humanitarian Award” to the show’s creator Earl Hamner, Jr.
