Firefighters have nearly controlled a modest forest fire that flared up next to UBC’s Wreck Beach, west of Vancouver, on Tuesday night. At least 40 firefighters struggled to cool down the flames all night, but it became tricky to restrict it since it was blazing in a gorge on a sharp slope in a region with no transportation structure.

Next day the flames were roughly to be about ¾ of a hectare in range, but it was not spreading rapidly or threatening any residential or commercial area, reported the firefighters.

They also said that they took control of 50 per cent of the fire before Wednesday 10 a.m. and they were likely to be on spot all day cooling down the outstanding fire. Moreover, the fire reportedly ignited within a huge tree near Wreck Beach and swell from there to the nearby forest.
