Harbhajan SinghHarbhajan Singh has been dropped off the Indian cricket team. The young spinner Rahul Sharma and paceman Sreenath Aravind were the two new faces in India’s 15-member squad.

Gautam Gambhir, who missed the ODI series in the tour of England because of head injury, has returned to the team.

Gambhir told the reporters that he would remain without the services of seniors. The seniors include, he said, Zaheer Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag.

In Chennai, the new BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale announced that Vidharba pace man Umesh Yadav and Jharkhand speedster Varun Aaron have been included in the squad.

The five fast bowlers and three spinners Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin and Sharma have also been selected by the national selectors.

Parthiv Patel had been very effective during his matches against England in ODI series. He has been retained along with upcoming batsman Ajinkya Rahane.

Five ODIs have been scheduled in India. The first one will be played in Hyderabad on October 14. Later Delhi will host the second game on October 17. And Mohali (Oct 20), Mumbai (Oct 23) and Kolkata (Oct 25) will host the other matches.

The lone Twenty20 match against England on October 29 will also be hosted by Kolkata.
