India successfully launched their first ever Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) on Thursday by the name Agni V.

Agni-V is a ballistic nuclear missile capable of covering 5,000 kilometer from the area its shot. The launch took place from the Wheeler Island near the coast of Orissa. According to the news given to the media by the scientists of the Defence Research and Organization Development (DRDO), the missile was launched at 8: 07 am on Thursday. It went up to 600 kilometers high and made it to its target according to the programming done making it a successful launch for the country.

The chief of DRDO D.K. Sarawat announced that India is now a proud missile power as the Agni V launched in the morning proved to be successful and it met all the targets according to the technological advancements in the program. He also said that the launch makes India a part of the “elite club” of countries who have the technology of ballistic missiles. Other countries already in the loop are China, Russia, France, and the United States. A number of military as well as political leaders were present at the time the missile was launched. One of the eyewitness to the launch said, “The sleek missile, within a few seconds of its blast-off from the Island launch pad roared majestically into the sky leaving behind it’s a trajectory a trail of thin orange and white smoke before disappearing.”
