Two men arrested for defrauding York University

The Toronto Police Service has charged two men in connection with a fraud investigation that took place between May 2007 and April 2010

It is alleged that:

– two men employed by York University defrauded the institution of approximately $1.2 million.

– Michaelo Markicevic, who was employed as Assistant Vice President of Campus Services and Business Operations, and Philip Brown, who was employed as Director of Maintenance, invoiced and billed York University for goods and services it did not receive and in excess of the fair market value

– the accused used York University resources for personal gains

Michaelo Markicevic, 53, of Duntroon, has been charged with:

1. two counts of Fraud Over
2. Laundering Proceeds of Crime

Philip Brown, of Stouffville, 46, has been charged with:

1. Fraud Over
2. Laundering Proceeds of Crime

Both accused are scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, room 111, at 11 a.m.
