The afternoon session includes the match of an Asian team India against a European giant Netherlands. The Olympic history’s most successful hockey team – India will lock horns with the World No.3 Netherlands at 16:00 BST in Pool B. India have played Netherlands 10 times in Olympics, and have won on 7 occasions, drawn once and lost twice. The Orange (Netherlands) had won 3-1 when they faced India last time in the Olympics in Athens and went on to finish as Silver Medalists.
After long awaited span of eight years, Indian hockey team is back in action in Olympics. It will be a tough task for India at Olympics, forget winning, reaching the semifinals would also be a difficult task, as India had tough competition in their group with Netherlands and Germany who they had last defeated in 1984 and 1968 respectively. Kiwis have also been a tough opponent for India.

Opening Game against Netherlands will be a tough encounter as in last 4 Olympic Games, Netherlands have won two Golds and One Silver Medal. Holland will once again rely on the magical skills of their most experienced campaigner Teun De Nooijer who is playing his fifth Olympics.
