Neil Maclellan arrested for arson in Winnipeg

On November 3rd, 2010 at approximately 12:30 hrs, Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Officers and the Winnipeg Fire Department were called to a high rise building in the 100 block of Carlton Street for a fire that had been set inside a stairwell. All tenants of the building were able to escape without injury and the fire was subsequently extinguished. Estimated damage reports are valued at approximately $5000.

On November 4th, 2010 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Officers again attended to the same business in the 100 block of Carlton Street to assist security with a male that was being held for allegedly attempting to start a fire in a washroom.

As a result of an investigation by Division 11 Uniform Officers and the Arson Strike Force, Neil MACLELLAN, 66 years of Winnipeg, has been arrested and is facing the following charges:

– Arson- Disregard for Human Life
– Arson- Damage to Property
– Possession Incendiary Material X2
– Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance X2

MACLEELAN has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
