Windsor Police have three suspects in custody facing charges after a vicious assault early Saturday morning in the 400 block of Tecumseh Rd E. At 6:45 a.m. on November 13, 2010, uniformed officers along with EMS personnel responded to the north sidewalk of Tecumseh Rd. near Highland St. for a report of three men assaulting two other men. Upon arrival, officers found a 39 year old victim lying on the sidewalk suffering from head injuries along with the victim’s friend who advised that he had been pushed by the suspects. The three suspects had fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to Hotel Dieu Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
The investigation revealed that the victim and his friend had been walking east on the north sidewalk in the 400 block of Tecumseh Rd. E when they were approached from behind by the three suspects who began yelling at them. The suspects knocked the victim to the ground and kicked him about the head causing his injuries. Officers obtained surveillance video from a convenience store in the area which showed the three suspects inside the store just prior to the assault. Officers were able to identify all three suspects from the images depicted on the video. At 3:15 p.m. Saturday, officers arrested an 18 year old suspect at his residence in the 1300 block of Mckay St. At 5:00 p.m. Saturday, officers arrested a 17 year old young person at his residence in the 3400 block of Millen St.
The third suspect, a 19 year old, turned himself into Windsor Police Headquarters at 10:00 a.m. this morning and will appear in court later today. All three accused in the assault will be remanded in custody.
Facing one count each of Aggravated Assault are:
Keith St. PIERRE – 18 years of Windsor – arrested Saturday. Kyle HEYWOOD – 19 years of Windsor – arrested Monday. A 17 year old young person – arrested Saturday.
The victim underwent a second surgery this morning and remains in stable condition in the ICU unit at Hotel Dieu Hospital.
