On Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at approximately 6:45 a.m., an astute Uniform Patrol officer working out of #5 District Headquarters observed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle wanted in connection with the robberies. As a result of subsequent investigation, the vehicle was stopped at Bur Oak Avenue, east of Highway 48, where the driver was identified as Gordon BOWDEN, 55, of Markham and arrested without incident. Mr. Bowden now faces eight counts of Robbery.
Members working out of the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit continue the investigation that began Thursday, September 30, 2010, when the first of eight robberies, including seven in York Region and one in the City of Toronto, occurred. There were no reported injuries as a result of any of these robberies.

Mr. Bowden has been held in custody is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket sometime today.
