On Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 7 p.m, friends and family will hold a memorial service for the victims in Homicide #43/2010, Courthney Facey, 18, and Homicide #44/2010 Mike James, 23, at 1798 Weston Road.
On Wednesday September 29, 2010, at approximately 10:20 p.m., police responded to a radio call for a shooting at 1798 Weston Road.
Courthney Facey was found in a side laneway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mike James was found nearby, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and was taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
As a result of assistance from the community and the subsequent investigation, it is reported that:
– the shooter was driving a black BMW X5 sport utility vehicle
– there were at least two people, including the shooter, in the X5
– there are numerous surveillance video systems which capture images of the X5
– the X5 is captured on surveillance video southbound on Weston Road, approximately 30 minutes prior to the murders
– the X5 is captured on surveillance video northbound on Weston Road, at high speed, immediately after the murders
– it is captured last on surveillance video northbound on Islington Avenue, from the 401
– from these videos, it has been determined that the X5 is a black, 2000–2006 model. It has silver running boards, five-spoke rims, a roof rack and a sun roof.
