After much delay, we finally got a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees this week and unlike a small role of Fawad Khan in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, this film features Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in lead role. Initially there were rumours that the makers are planning to chop off some portions of the actress owing to the recent outrage. But now we hear that some portions of the film were shot in Dubai.
In the wake of Uri attacks, massive protests led to the shortening of Fawad Khan’s role in the film. However, when the makers tried to make Mahira Khan understand about the same because of which it was difficult for her to not just arrive in India but also shoot for the film, we hear that the actress did not want to compromise on the same. The makers eventually relented thinking that she did not deserve such a raw deal and hence decided to finish off the rest of the portions.
Reportedly, Shah Rukh and Mahira shot the portions when the former was in Dubai for a tourism video and the latter was shooting for an ad there. The said shooting supposedly wrapped up in three days in a rather discreet manner in Abu Dhabi after which Shah Rukh Khan returned to Mumbai to promote Dear Zindagi.
Earlier we had reported that there were a few song sequences between the lead pair that was remaining for the film and the makers had decided to do away with it. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees is set in the 80s and revolves around Prohibition in the state of Gujarat in India.
