The Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit has requested the public’s assistance on several occasions in the past regarding the whereabouts of 21 year-old, Robert (Bobby) Thomson.
As a result of a lengthy investigation involving the Missing Persons Unit and Homicide Unit, it has been determined that Robert Thomson is deceased and considered a victim of a homicide.
The investigation has revealed that Thomson met a male and female on July 21, 2012 while in the area of River Avenue and Osborne Street. While together, the three purchased liquor and proceeded to socialize near the Assiniboine riverbank.
At one point during the evening, Thomson and the male became involved in a serious physical altercation. The incident concluded with Thomson being put into the river and the male suspect fleeing the area.
On January 13, 2014, 21 year-old, Tanner James Prevost was arrested while in custody on an unrelated matter and charged with 2nd Degree Murder due to his alleged involvement.
He remains in custody.
