Carolina Morace resigns as Head Coach of the Women’s National Soccer Team

The Canadian Soccer Association, along with partners Own the Podium and B2ten, announced today that it has accepted the resignation of Carolina Morace as Head Coach of the Women’s National Team and Women’s U-20 National Team, along with those of her coaching staff which was given verbally on Wednesday, July 20 following a comprehensive review meeting of Canada’s performance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011

"The Canadian Soccer Association would like to recognize the contribution that Coach Morace and her staff have made to the advancement of the Women’s National Team program," stated Peter Montopoli, Canadian Soccer Association General Secretary. "We congratulate them on their achievements and wish them well in their next endeavour."

The Association remains committed to the Women’s National Team program and the team’s Olympic qualification for London 2012. As such, an international search for a Head Coach will begin immediately with the continued advancement of the Women’s National Team program a focus.

Morace joined the Canadian Soccer Association in 2009 and most recently led the Women’s National Team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011.
