After School launches its 2013-14 season with award-winning science writer and esteemed meditation instructor, Jeff Warren. His talk, “Into the Mystic of Advanced Meditation: The Hype and the Hope of Spiritual Enlightenment,” will draw on eight years of research Warren has conducted for a forthcoming book. He will discuss the knowledge gap between what is reported in the scientific literature on meditation and what actually happens to real people. The talk will also explore why meditation should not only matter to us personally, but also for our scientific understanding of mind and world.
